Begney Hill Road, Dromara (map)

For the final event of the Dromara Cycling Club Road League for 2010 there was a short hill climb up Begney Hill Road in the centre of the village of Dromara.  Sixteen riders including two visitors took on this challenge before hanging up their 'good bikes' for the winter.  It was a damp evening with a cold breeze.

First rider away was Adrian Cunningham with the remaining riders starting at one minute intervals.  Fastest on the night was visitor Matthew Adair (Banbridge CC) who set a great time of just over 1 minute.  Second fastest and quickest Dromara rider was Ronnie Smyth, less than a second behind Matthew.  It came down to a mere  hundreths of seconds separating Bob Patterson, Gavin Magowan and visitor Josh Daly (Banbridge CC) who finished quickest in the order.  Well done to all the riders.  After the event the riders retired to the Square One pub for refreshments.

Many thanks to the timekeepers Simon Welby and Trevor Annett and to the marshals Andrew Wilson, Anne Maguire, Brian McGrath.
