Dromara CC Club League - Round 19
16 mile time trial - Hillsborough - Ballynahinch (map)

8 August 2013

Part two of the competition for the Fine Food Distributors trophy took place on Thursday 8 August 2013.  This was the second of the 16 mile time trials this time going from Hillsborough to Ballynahinch and back.  This was the second time starting from the Governors Gate entrance and, as per last time, it was a damp evening with intermittent showers.  There was also a cross-wind which hampered the riders in both directions.

Lining up first for Round 19 of the club league was junior rider Zak Hanna.  He was followed one minute later by Martin Marner with Neil Fitzsimons going one minute behind Martin.  The other 13 riders left at one minute intervals as well.

Fastest on the night was Gavin Magowan with a time of 37 minutes and 33 seconds.  Ronnie Smyth made a welcome return after taking ill just after Round 17 to set the second fastest time at 38:11.  As before Anthony Quinn was third fastest despite not using a time trial specific bike, helmet or aero bars.  Anthony was 50 seconds faster than Marcus Magowan on his TT bike with Barry Kellett just 1 second behind Marcus using just his road bike.

Ronnie was fastest in the first leg at Round 6 and therefore wins the trophy.

Well done to all the riders.  Many thanks to the time keepers and marshals.  Next week is the final club road race.

Timekeepers: Nathan Mullan and Chris Magowan
Marshals :
At Annahilt:
Marty McAnulty and Ryan Mallon
At the turn: Neill Currie, Graham Beckett and Gary Gibson
