Dragon Boat
Race 09/08/2003
It was a long wait to start rowing. A great day was had by all club members and guests. With good team work we cruised into the final with the fastest run of the day. It was a questionable decision with only inches to spare, but with £75.00 for 2nd place we were all happy.
Good weather, gave us a turnout of 105 and an excellent profit for the day. Barbeque was a good idea, enjoyed by all possible contact for food, Alistair, Crossgar Poultry.
Problems.
1. No sign in forms
2. More help with sign on and not in small room.
3. Ticket to each person for food. ?
4. Possible change to tea stop for next year, due to development of old building into holiday cottage.
5. Tea stop was not ready in time, two teams required.
6. Trevor not to have final say on food.
Paul
McKibben Mermorial , Loughinisland
21/08/2003
A good day out with 5 Dromara on show. Bob, Ronnie, Paul, Trevor and John Oliver. A windy day lead to good team work and an average speed of 19.1 mph for 82 miles. Poor overall turnout for a Loughinisland event.
Torr Head
Challenge, Team Madigan 28/08/2003 [70/50/25miles]
A bright dry day was welcome sight for the team of 6 Dromara members, so far from home. Bob, Raymond, Paul, Mac, Stephen and Trevor, set out from Ballygalley, at 10.00, half an hour before the official start, but it was cold standing about 70 miles, 45 of which was flat lay ahead. The very steep climbs of Torr Head, were very tough, but the sun was out and nobody walked. On to Ballycastle and we went into a pub in Cushendall for soup and coffee. A large turn out for this memorial event for a cyclist who died of cancer this year at the age of 37. A medal was given to all finishers by his girl friend.
