On Saturday 09 June 2012 Dromara Cycling Club is hosting the  Emma McMullan Trophy & Ronnie Smyth Trophy open road races around the 8 mile Annahilt triangle circuit.  

There will be 4 races on the day:
  • A' race - for A1, A2, and A3 riders
  • B' race - for A4 riders
  • Masters/Over 50s race
  • Women's race
The Emma McMullan Trophy will go to the winner of the A' race and the Ronnie Smyth Trophy will be awarded to the winner of the B' race.  There will be cash prizes for the top 3 in the Over 50s race.  The Women's race is part of the Ulster Women's Association League*.  
*Those entering the  UWA event or the Master's event only require a club competition licence. One day licences are not available for these events.

The trophies have been kindly sponsored by KJM Electrics of Crossgar and RS Contracts Ballynahinch.

There will also be prizes for the first unplaced A2 and A3 riders as well as first unplaced Junior.

Race Route
The race route for the 2012 race - A controlled roll out from Hillsborough to Annahilt (3.2 miles).  Rolling start for A' race at Annahilt.  Race heads towards Ballynahinch along the Ballynahinch/Lisburn Road.   After 3.2 miles there is a sharp left hand turn onto the Ballycreen Road.   Along the 4.1 mile stretch of the narrow Ballycreen Road which becomes the Ballykeel Road.  Left turn onto the Glebe Road which is another 1.2 mile stretch back to the Annahilt crossroads to begin the next lap. Circuit distance 14 km / 8.7 miles.

Race Distance
The A race (A1s, A2s, A3s) will be 102 km / 63.4 miles, starting in Hillsborough then heading to Annahilt for 7 laps of the 14 km circuit.
The B race (A4s) will be 5 laps of the Annahilt triangle circuit  = 70 km / 43.5 miles
The Over 50s and Women's Race will be 3 laps of the Annahilt triangle circuit (14 km / 8.7 miles) = 42 km / 26.1 miles
The finish for all races will be on the Glebe Road, Annahilt.

Race Headquarters
Race headquarters will be at Lisnagarvey Hockey Club on the junction of the Comber Road / Ballynahinch Road in Hillsborough (map).
Toilets, changing and showering facilities will be available with refreshments and sandwiches for all after the race.  We have been kindly provided with the overflow car park to keep all the cars together.

Race start times and locations
All riders will be rolled out from Hillsborough at 11 am and escorted to Annahilt.
The A' race (A1s, A2s and A3s) will commence at approximately 11:15 on a rolling start.  
The B' race (A4s) will commence at approximately 11:20 from the Glebe Road, Annahilt.
The Over 50s race will start at approximately 11:25 from Glebe Road, Annahilt
The Women's race will start at approximately 11:30 from Glebe Road, Annahilt

Sign on
Sign on will open at 09:45 am.  Fee £10 (€10) - pay on the day.
Note: The A' and B' races will have a restriction of 60 riders per race.  A reserve list will be in place.

Pre-registration
Please pre-register for this race to help cut down on the administration on the day.  
Pre-registration will close on Friday 8 June 2012 at 8 pm.
