Mary, fastest Ulster Women

21 June 2012

On Thursday 21 June 2012 the Irish National Time Trial Championships took place in Cahir County Tipperary for Elite Men, Under 23s and Women.  The event was hosted by Clonmel Cycling Club and was held over a distance of 35 km and had attracted professional riders, olympic athletes as well as top amateurs.

Taking part in her first national championships was Dromara Cycling Club's Mary Hunter who was competing against eight other female riders from across Ireland.  Mary had  taken part in the Celtic Chrono back in May which was a  pre-olympic time trial and had attracted some of the top female riders in the world.

In Cahir Mary was the third woman in the start list setting off down the ramp just before 6 pm.  Mary completed the distance in 57 minutes and 16 seconds beating her fellow Ulster riders to finish 5th overall.

Congratulations to Mary.
