Cycling Club had their 2011 Christmas dinner and Awards Night at
Rockmount Golf Club near Carryduff on Friday 2 December 2011.
This was a new venue for the club and almost 60 members with
guests came along to enjoy a great meal with entertainment afterwards.
Prize giving took place before the meal, during the courses and
after the meal. Many of the trophies are now well established
with engraved names going back to 2005. For the second year running there were medals presented for the 25 mile time trial with gold for riders finishing in under 1 hour, silver for riders finishing under 1 hour 5 minutes and bronze for riders finishing under 1 hour 10 minutes. The only one medal not given out this evening was to Conor Rice (01:08:56). This year saw the introduction of some novelty certificates for various achievements including some humorous awards for incidents that happened throughout the season. The final presentation of the night was for the Tailwind Award, an original painting by Deepa Mann-Kler. Club chairman Peter Bryson gave a short speech before presenting the award to Derek Hanna for outstanding contribution to the club. A full list of the awards are shown below.
