Davison takes podium at Biking Blitz
The XC Season sprung back into action on sunday with Round 1 of the Biking Blitz at Ballinastoe, Co.Wicklow. This is always a popular series run by Biking.ie, with great numbers in attendance. Dromara were represented at the race by Peter Davison, Robert Davison and Paul Hamilton.
Peter had a disastrous start in the Junior race, getting involved in a crash in the opening seconds as riders jostled for position. The bike was a race write off with the rear brake hose being torn off. Luckily he was offered a bike and got going several minutes behind the actual race and proceeded to drill his way through the field to take a superb 3rd place on a course with very limited passing places. Who knows how he would have fared without giving everyone else a head start!

Robert lined up in the Pro category, competing with all the top racers, coming away with 48th place in a field of almost 90. Paul Hamilton got his first taste of XC racing, wondering what all the fuss was about, passing and upsetting several Pro Category racers along the way… 12th spot for Paul in the Baggy Shorts category (101 starters!).
