2018 Dromara CC Tour of the North Team
This year Dromara CC have entered a strong 5 man team into the 2018 edition of the Tour of the North, A 3 day stage race that is known for the quality of racing it brings to the Northern Irish roads every Easter weekend. The team for this year has been preparing through the winter months to be in top shape for the prestigious event and the hard work that’s been put in is really showing in the early races. Let’s introduce the Team:
Nathan Mullan
Nathan has put last years misfortunes behind him and has been hard at work getting in shape to be a real contender in the A1 Cat for this year. With plenty of success 2 years ago and some good results last year, you can be assured that the ability is there and I’m sure we will see a top performance at the Tour of the North by Nathan. Nathan has raced most of the early season races showing good form in them and putting the training to use by making a nuisance of himself in the bunch. Nathan will be looking for a good result this year on his run up to the Ras.
Aaron Watson
Aaron still being a junior is the youngest on the team but has proven on numerous occasions he can mix it with the big guns. Aaron has put a solid winters training in and has even been out to sunny Spain twice, one of those times as part of a scholarship programme which just shows how talented the young lad is. With lots of determination Aaron has shown when the going gets tough he can keep the engines firing on all cylinders which will come in handy for the mighty Torr head. Keep your eye on Aaron the results will start to come in very soon.
Jack Ferguson
Jack has spent most of the winter rolling around in the mud while also taking part in a bit of Cycle cross with a bit of success Jack managed a couple of results and found himself in the A race quite quickly. Jack has carried the form through from the cycle cross and with a lot of turbo work and a sunny week in Spain he has found the legs to turn the training into results with a strong win at the PJ Logan. Jacks time in Spain has shown he can get up a climb pretty quickly which will come in very hand for the Tour of the North with every stage having tough categorised Climbs. Keep an eye out for him in the Hills.
Stevie Irvine
This man had a great year last year at the Tour of the North, finishing well up and beating his own expectations, and with a top result at the Groucho GP last year he will be looking to replicate his performance from last year. He has been hard at work getting back to peak physical condition for this years monster race. His hours on the bike over the winter have started to show in his racing with a strong showing last weekend at the Tour of Ards making himself known within the early break, unfortunately Stevie couldn’t convert last weeks strong riding into a result however a result is definitely on the horizon.
Adam Pyper
Our 5th rider this year was to be the infamous Gavin Magowan, however, he has made the decision to sit this one out, I’m not sure why as his legs are certainly there and a strong performance was defiantly on the cards for him however we have got the lend of one of Maryland cycling clubs strongest riders in the form of Adam Pyper, Adam has suffered the last couple of seasons with injury and hasn’t done much racing but he has had some top results before these injuries and has been putting a lot of work in over the winter. With this training, he has been sitting comfortably with the big guns at the early races this year so it will be good to see how he gets on.
It would be good to see as many Dromara jerseys as possible lining the roads so if you’re free and fancy a wee trip it would be nice if you could cheer the lads on from the side of the road, it would give them an extra boost on the climbs and maybe you’ll even see one of the lads with a result!
